Daytona Beach Woman Faces Multiple Charges Following Severe SUV Crash and Bizarre Roadside Plea to Police

A 24-year-old Florida woman is facing numerous criminal charges after allegedly crashing an SUV into a parked vehicle in Daytona Beach and subsequently engaging in a bizarre roadside exchange with investigating law enforcement officers. Newly released audiovisual recordings from both neighborhood surveillance systems and police body-worn cameras captured the collision and the subsequent interaction between the suspect, identified as Elizabeth Boucher, and responding patrol officers.

The incident occurred on August 30, when an SUV operated by Boucher collided violently with an unoccupied Honda parked along a residential roadway. Surveillance footage documenting the crash shows the striking SUV impacting the stationary vehicle with substantial force, violently propelling the parked car entirely across a front lawn and shoving it out of the camera’s frame.

Despite the significant physical damage and displacement of the vehicle, Boucher offered a drastically minimized explanation of the collision when questioned by responding officers from the Daytona Beach Police Department. During the initial on-scene interview captured on body camera footage, Boucher told the investigating officer that she believed she had merely clipped the front lighting of the vehicle, adding that she did not fully understand what had taken place.

The responding officer quickly pushed back against Boucher's understated account of the crash, pointing out the stark reality of the physical destruction left behind at the scene. The officer directly informed her that she had not simply struck the front corner of the vehicle, emphasizing that the severe impact had completely dislodged and displaced the entire parked car from where it had been resting.

As the roadside encounter continued, the investigating officer asked Boucher to produce her standard driver’s license to verify her identity and driving privileges. Instead of presenting a motor vehicle operator's license, Boucher handed the officer a passport. The officer immediately corrected the mix-up, pointing out the nature of the travel document before requesting her official driver's license for a second time.

Throughout the unfolding interaction, Boucher repeatedly attempted to establish an informal rapport with the investigating officers in an apparent effort to avoid arrest. Body camera footage captured her claiming a personal bond with the law enforcement personnel on the scene, remarking to the officers that she believed they were all friends.

In addition to appealing to a supposed personal connection with law enforcement, Boucher made multiple direct pleas begging the officers not to place her under arrest. At one point during the questioning, she referenced a vaping device, telling officers that it was merely a vape that was non-functional and imploring them not to take her to jail over the matter.

Recognizing clear signs that extended beyond a standard vehicle collision, the investigating officer formally notified Boucher of a major shift in the nature of the stop. The officer announced that the incident was transitioning from a standard civil crash evaluation into a formal criminal driving under the influence (DUI) investigation, subsequently advising her of her constitutional rights under Miranda.

Following the transition to a criminal probe, law enforcement officers attempted to conduct standard roadside evaluations to gauge Boucher’s physical and mental faculties. However, Boucher explicitly refused to participate in standard field sobriety exercises when requested, and she subsequently declined to submit to a formal breath test to measure her breath-alcohol concentration.

When Boucher once again invoked her claim of friendship in an effort to appeal to the officers handling the stop, the responding officer firmly maintained professional boundaries. The officer reminded her that regardless of any personal sentiments, law enforcement personnel had a statutory obligation and a job to carry out at the scene of the crash.

During the concluding moments of the roadside investigation, Boucher stated that she was not resisting arrest and voiced concern for her family, telling officers that she wanted to ensure her daughter received whatever care and necessities she required. As Boucher stood near the vehicles, an officer instructed her to lean against a car to maintain her balance and prevent herself from falling, prompting Boucher to ask whether she was being transported to jail.

Following the roadside investigation, Boucher was taken into custody and formally booked on a wide array of criminal offenses. The charges lodged against her include driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, DUI involving damage to property or another person, battery, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription.

Court records indicate that following her formal arrest and booking in Daytona Beach, Boucher entered a plea of not guilty to all the criminal counts filed against her. The recorded surveillance footage of the collision and the detailed body-worn camera footage from the roadside investigation will serve as central pieces of evidence as the legal proceedings move forward through the judicial system.
