An intensive regional search is underway across Greater Manchester as police and family members make an urgent appeal for information regarding 13-year-old Lillia, who has been missing from her Bolton home for nearly a week. During a major press conference convened by Greater Manchester Police, authorities joined the teenager's mother to plead for the public's assistance and to urge the schoolgirl to make contact.
The missing girl's mother, Jessica, attended the briefing alongside senior investigating officers, visibly emotional as her heartfelt written statement was presented to the media. In her message, she highlighted the severe emotional toll the prolonged absence has taken on the family, expressing profound love for her daughter and pleading for immediate reassurance that she is unharmed.
"Lil, I love you so much," the mother's statement read during the press conference. "My heart is breaking without you here. I need to know you are safe. We all need you back home safe and well." The statement underscored the family's growing distress as days continue to pass without direct word from the teenager.
Chief Superintendent Helen Critchley, who serves as the Greater Manchester Police district commander for Bolton, took to the podium to address Lillia directly. The senior officer sought to alleviate any fears or worries that might prevent the young teenager from returning home or making herself known to authorities.
"Lillia, if you see this appeal, please know your family love you, miss you and just want to know that you are safe," Chief Superintendent Critchley stated. Reassuring the teenager that she faced no reprimand, she emphasized: "You are not in any trouble, they simply want you to come home."
Detectives working on the missing person inquiry have been actively reconstructing Lillia's movements across the region since she was first reported missing on Friday, 11 September. Verified timeline details confirm that the 13-year-old was spotted late that same evening in central Manchester, specifically in the Piccadilly Gardens area, shortly before 23:00 BST.
Following the sighting in central Manchester on Friday night, investigators tracked her to the Trafford Centre shopping complex the following day. Police have identified this Saturday afternoon sighting at the major shopping venue as a critical development in the ongoing investigation.
According to police findings, Lillia is believed to have boarded a public bus shortly after her time at the shopping mall. Investigators established that she got onto the 247 service heading toward the nearby town of Altrincham at around 13:50 BST on Saturday. However, detectives have not yet determined the exact stop where she disembarked.
Because her travel path after boarding remains uncertain, Greater Manchester Police have issued a targeted public appeal to weekend transit passengers. Officers want to speak with anyone who travelled on the 247 bus on Saturday from 13:50 BST onwards and remembers seeing a girl matching Lillia's appearance.
To help the public recognize the teenager, Greater Manchester Police have released clear images alongside a detailed physical description. Lillia is described as being of slim build, approximately 5ft 5in (1.67m) tall, with light brown hair, and she wears glasses.
At the time of her disappearance and her recorded sighting at the Trafford Centre, she was dressed in a black zip-up hooded top paired with light blue baggy jeans. She was also observed carrying a small black Nike backpack, which officers have highlighted as a distinctive identifying item.
In addition to eyewitness accounts from bus passengers and shoppers, detectives are seeking digital and recorded evidence from the local community. The police force has asked residents, homeowners, and local businesses in the areas surrounding the Trafford Centre and Altrincham to review their security cameras, domestic CCTV setups, and doorbell footage for any potential sightings.
Chief Superintendent Critchley reaffirmed that the confirmed sighting at the shopping centre and the subsequent bus route form an integral focus of the ongoing police investigation. Specialized teams within Greater Manchester Police are dedicating significant investigative resources to tracking down every lead associated with her Saturday journey.
Officers are also appealing directly to anyone who may have communicated with Lillia through phone calls, social media platforms, messaging apps, or in person since she went missing. Authorities urge anyone with even minor pieces of information to contact Greater Manchester Police immediately, emphasizing that every detail could prove crucial in bringing the 13-year-old safely home to Bolton.
